International Tax Planning

Consulco’s international tax department renders tax advisory services of outstanding quality level. Whereas in competing firms, tax advisory services are usually rendered ‘on the side’ (e.g. by corporate lawyers, auditors or administrators), Consulco is one of the few firms in Cyprus that has structured its tax advisory services differently in the sense that the members of its tax department are educated and trained tax lawyers who are exclusively engaged in rendering tax advice and do not render any other services, such as audit- or corporate services.

Another way in which we distinguish ourselves from our competitors is that we do not only promote “proprietary” jurisdictions where we happen to have significant presence (office), such as Cyprus, Malta, UK, and the UAE. We are able to provide objective advise and, based upon this objective approach, we are able to acknowledge that in certain structures other jurisdictions may serve the clients’ purpose more accurately.

Rutger Kriek, the head of Consulco’s International Tax Department, is an experienced Dutch tax lawyer. The Dutch tax system is well-known for its opportunities and sophistication, but also for its challenges and complexity. Rutger’s extensive (more than 10 years) experience in practicing the sophisticated Dutch tax system gives him a competitive advantage when dealing with tax practitioners in other sophisticated and high-tax jurisdictions, as it is relatively easy for him to put himself in the position of the requesting tax adviser. This is one of the qualities that make Rutger Kriek one of the best tax advisers in Cyprus.

Consulco’s international tax services have for various years been ranked as belonging to the highest quality levels that can be found in Cyprus by the International Tax Review, one of the world’s most prominent periodicals dedicated to international tax strategy.

Consulco’s tax advisers are members of the IFA (the International Fiscal association) the IBA (the International Bar Association) and the EATI (the European American Tax Institute).
